At Salvia BioElectronics, we are developing a breakthrough neuromodulation therapy designed to reduce the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks. As a Usability Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in applying human factors and usability principles within a clinical-stage medical device company.

This internship is designed as a learning experience. You will work closely with our Senior Usability Engineer, supporting real usability activities and learning how usability, regulation, and product development come together to create safe and effective healthcare technology.

As a Usability Engineer Intern, your mission is to learn how usability engineering contributes to patient safety, product effectiveness, and regulatory compliance, while actively supporting ongoing usability activities for an implantable medical device.
Your Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation, execution, and analysis of usability activities
  • Assist in creating usability documentation, including test protocols and reports
  • Participate in usability testing and user research with end users
  • Support travel-based research activities within the Netherlands, Belgium, and potentially the UK
  • Collaborate with Development, Clinical, and Quality teams to understand usability within a regulated environment
Your profile
  • Currently pursuing an MSc in Applied Cognitive Psychology, UX/UI Design, Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong interest in healthcare technology and human-centered design
  • Curious, eager to learn, and comfortable asking questions
  • Able to work independently while enjoying collaboration in a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)
